President of Brazil Federation

Your Excellency the President,

The world community well remembers your victory in the democratic elections of Brazil. This event, not only was joyous for the people of Brazil whose want is progress of democracy and human rights, but it was also welcomed by other nations longing for freedom from dictatorships as a good omen and a big step toward a world free of injustice. Your effort toward peace and social justice in the world has increased your popularity.

Iranian NGOs and political parties, which have been fighting for democracy, human rights and peaceful coexistence with other nations, also praise and respect your efforts for freedom and human rights.

Our efforts for achieving the most basic civil rights and human values through democracy have always been suppressed by dictatorial governments. Many of our activists have been systematically killed, imprisoned or forced to become refugees. One example of the problems we have faced is the overthrow of the democratic government of Dr. Mohammad Mosaddegh in 1953 for a brutal dictatorship.

In 1979, the Iranian people once again rose to regain their rightful civil rights, democracy and freedom of choice. Due to the fact that the political parties and democratic organization had been banned from activity during the monarchist regime, the revolution was hijacked by religious groups who established the current Islamic Republic. Upon establishment of this theocratic regime in Iran, suppression, murder and imprisonment of opposition activists became the agenda of its governments.

Once again in June of 2009, people of Iran rose in the form of protest demonstrations against the rigging of the presidential elections. Millions of freedom loving people, the youth, the women and the intellectuals took to the streets in peaceful demonstrations demanding their stolen votes. The regime responded to these demands by warm and cold weapons. Many were beaten and killed on the streets and thousands were taken to secret prisons where they were beaten, tortured and violently raped, men and women alike.

Reporter, students, writers, labor activists, political opposition and even the protesting parents of the killed and imprisoned and the prisoners’ defense attorneys were jailed and made to "confess" under torture.

Public execution of children under 18 , opposition and human rights activists, and display of their corpses in the streets to create an atmosphere of fear are just some examples of the regime’s violations of international and civil codes of conduct.

The people of Iran have risen for rights empty handed against vicious and highly armed occupiers of our country with beliefs as in the dark ages, just like conquistadores of the 16th century.

The few countries that are friendly and united with the illegal regime in Iran and act against the economic interests and sovereignty of the Iranian nation are also ignoring their own laws and long term interests.

Mr. President, you have a good understanding of an oppressed nation, and have rightly said that the time of exploitation of people by imperialistic powers is over. But, do not forget that many nations are exploited by their own dictatorial rulers.

While Brazil has enjoyed your government’s efforts toward quality of life and progress, our rulers during the past 30 years not only behaved as enemy of the people, but by using deception and corrupt practices, hiding behind their ideology, have acted against our national goals and interests by propagating poverty, corruption, violence and hatred.

On your trip to Iran, we hope that you experience the famous Iranian hospitality, although your real hosts are in prison under torture hoping for international assistance to regain their freedom.

Mr. President, please note that the corrupt and hated Islamic Republic in Iran, as the history has shown in similar cases, is facing downfall and collapse. We ask for your moral support of the people of Iran and their human rights. Please support our demand from the Islamic Republic:

1. Abolition of capital punishment.

2. Abolition of laws permitting torture, dismemberment and stoning.

3. Freedom of all political prisoners and all prisoners of conscience.

4. Free elections by the rules of the International Parliamentary Union under international supervision.

Respectfully,

Iran National(popular) front – European Branch
